Check out today’s radio show on Anatoly’s Retribution: Book One

For the last two weeks, it’s been all about Anatoly’s Retribution: Book One.

To celebrate our readers, we had a radio show today.

So… we only got to answer about 25% of the questions out there today during my first radio show in over a year, but I can assure that we’ll continue each week until we get it all done and then we can start all over again with Book Two, due out on November 1st.  I’m battling a flu right now. And I hate that because I sound like a frog, but the show must go on.  So check out today’s radio book chat where I answered some of the questions that have been sent in to me over the last two weeks.

Order to Read the Medlov Books

Are you a Medlovian?

In what order should I read the Medlov Books?

First, thank you for your interest in the series that started the Russian Mafia Romance genre. I promise you that you won’t be disappointed. The Medlov Family is a fictional look into one of the most complex clandestine societies that the Russian culture ever gave to the world. Currently, there are three series around the Medlov family: The Medlov Crime Family, The Chronicles of Young Dmitry Medlov and The Medlov Men.

The Medlov Crime Family consists of four books and I would recommend reading these first.

• Dmitry’s Closet (2010)
• Dmitry’s Royal Flush: Rise of the Queen (2010)
• Anatoly Medlov: Complete Reign (2011)
• Saving Anya (2012)

Each of these books introduce the characters who will continue to play a role in shaping the world of the Medlov empire and family.

The next group of books to read would be the Chronicles of Young Dmitry Medlov. They are a look back at Dmitry Medlov’s life from the time of 18 up until the transition of his life when he became the Czar of the underworld. There are so many questions answered in this series. We see the relationship between Ivan and his brother grow and wither, the introduction of beloved bodyguard Davyd, intimate relationships between al the main characters and the birth of many of your favorite bad boys. I am still working on Volumes 8-12, but there is plenty to read in Volumes 1-7.

• The Chronicles of Young Dmitry Medlov: Book One
• The Chronicles of Young Dmitry Medlov: Book Two
• The Chronicles of Young Dmitry Medlov: Book Three
• The Chronicles of Young Dmitry Medlov: Book Four
• The Chronicles of Young Dmitry Medlov: Book Five
• The Chronicles of Young Dmitry Medlov: Book Six
• The Chronicles of Young Dmitry Medlov: Book Seven

The Medlov Men Series is a contemporary look at the men of the Medlov family and council. Instead of just focusing on their arms deals, we focus on the interpersonal relationships they have with each other and the women they love. After you have read the other series, you will definitely apprecieate the Medlov Men Series, but you don’t have to read the other books to understand these. I’ve designed them to be stand-alone books with full explanations, so you’ll never be lost.

• Vasily’s Revenge
• Gabriel’s Regret: Book One
• Gabriel’s Regret: Book Two
• Anatoly’s Retribution: Book One (Coming Soon)
• Anatoly’s Retribution: Book Two (Coming Soon)
• Dmitry’s Redemption: Book One (Coming Soon)
• Dmitry’s Redemption: Book Two (Coming Soon)

Dmitry’s Closet (Book 1) Medlov Crime Family Series – The Beginning of the Russian Mafia Romance Genre

“A man like Dmitry was never irate. His coldness was only reflected in the manner in which he destroyed.”
Read the book that started the Russian Mafia Romance genre nearly a decade ago. From USA TODAY bestselling interracial author Latrivia S. Nelson (now Latrivia Welch), comes a story about a deadly faction of the Russian mafia and an innocent woman who threatens to dismantle an empire with the promise of forbidden love.

The virginal recent college graduate, Royal Stone, is looking for employment in one of the country’s toughest recessions. While desperately wondering downtown Memphis résumé in-hand, she stumbles upon the seven-foot, blonde billionaire Dmitry Medlov, who offers her a job as the manager of his new boutique, Dmitry’s Closet.
Royal Stone is in for a big surprise.

After the clueless beauty accepts Dmitry’s generous job offer, Royal soon accepts his extravagant gifts, his bed and his upscale lifestyle. What she does not know is that her knight in shining armor is also the head of the Medlov Organized Crime Family, a faction of the elite Russian mafia organization, Vory v Zakone.

Dmitry Medlov faces a fork in the road.

For the first time in his life, the brutal mob boss is introduced to happiness, but not everyone around him wants the lonely Czar to have a happy ending. Under investigation by a joint task force, working to uncover a conspiracy on his council and battling with the old guards to bring their organization into the 21st century, the last thing Dmitry Medlov needs is to lose focus.

However, falling in love with Royal makes Dmitry want to break his coveted code, leave his self-made kingdom and start a life far away from the perils of the Thieves-in-Law. She is his purpose in life made flesh. But when his sociopathic brother, Ivan, comes to the Memphis bent on a murderous revenge, old sins resurface, and Royal becomes the unsuspecting target of Ivan’s wrath. What neither of the men know, is that Royal is carrying a secret of her own.

Who will win? Who will lose? Who will die? Watch all the skeletons as they tumble out of the interracial romantic suspense sensation, Dmitry’s Closet.

Warning: This book contains graphic language, sex, and various forms of violence. However, it will also melt your heart!

Happy Founders Day To My Wonderful Sorority, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.

I’d like to wish each and every member of my illustrious sorority, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, a Happy Founders Day.  108 years of service and still committed to the mission.  My sisterhood has been one filled with magnificent and bold women, determined not only to make their lives better, but also to make our communities better.   I pledged at Beta Tau (LeMoyne-Owen College).  When I stepped on to the campus back in 1998, I knew three things:  I wanted to be a great scholar; I wanted to be Ms. LeMoyne-Owen College, and I wanted to be a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority (God’s favor on me allowed me to become President of my chapter).  I knew that I was not going to leave that campus until I accomplished each of those goals.  What I learned is that it would take a lot more than “one” person – me – to do that.  The women and men on that campus who helped me, tutored me, mentored me and propelled me into a better future always deserve acknowledgement for their selfless efforts.  The love only grew after graduation was even more surreal.  Belonging to something so great, makes you feel greater.  There is nothing like arriving off a plane in a city where you don’t know a soul and seeing a the face of a sister, nothing like applying for job and sitting across the interview table from a sister, going to a bank to get a loan and talking to a sister, giving birth to your child and being cared for by a sister, watching the First Lady of the United States and being proud of your sister, looking at your daughter and hoping she’ll become your sister.   My line sisters.  My big sisters.  My Greek Sisters.  My Skee-Phi brothers.  Other Greeks on the Yard who believed in the Divine 9 and our ability to change cultures.   All of you have a special place in my heart.

Latrivia Welch Remembers Julian Bond THE LEADER

17bond-web01-articleLarge

Because of the support and love of my mentors, I’ve met many great civil rights leaders in my time. I had the honor of having Dr. Benjamin Hooks as a personal mentor along with Mrs. Francis, who gave me invaluable advise as a young woman that I still hold dear today. Dr. Hooks used to love my granddaddy’s fried fish, and grandpa didn’t mind having me come to South Memphis to pick up some as soon as he fried it and deliver it to Dr. Hooks. I remember Dr. Vasco Smith with his jovial smile and Mrs. Maxine Smith always willing to give me a hug. I remember D’Army Bailey sitting across from me at Four Way Grill, and me praying in the middle of his very enlightening talk – that I didn’t drop fried tomatoes all over my Chanel white blouse and make a mockery of myself. I remember working for the National Civil Rights Museum and President Mandela coming up the stairs at the Peabody and me rushing out to see if he was on his way and running nearly head on into him. All I could say was, “your President Mandela.” And he said, “yes dear but who are you?” I couldn’t speak after that.

Recently, I met the founder of Black Enterprise, Mr. Earl Graves. We walked and talked for a while. He was impressed by my little publishing house, and insisted that I had promise. I was in shock how much he reminded me of my grandpa and instantly felt a connection. Mary Robinson, the first female president of Ireland, was also very kind. She and I walked through Bountiful Blessings after she was caught up on a call with UN. She told me I simply had to visit Ireland. After meeting her, I knew that I had to as well.

My list is long and distinguished. I’ve met so many, and I remember them all. I either met them because of LeMoyne-Owen College, Howard and Beverly Robertson or Deidre Malone. My mentors pushed me…always pushed me…still push me. Since I was a skinny 18-year old girl, they have opened doors for me that would have remained closed otherwise. They have introduced me to giants because they were giants themselves.

I still remember meeting Mr. Julian Bond. The first time was at the National Civil Rights Museum when I was around 20. Then, I was heading up credentialing for the NAACP 2009 National Conference in Cincinnati and we were preparing for the Obama/McCain speeches and Mr. Bond came around the office. He wanted to see what we were up to. We had been working early mornings and late nights. Deidre thought it was good for both Tonya and I to do this on our own. She was training us. She was right. It was great work, hard work, great experience.
Tonya and I wanted pictures. Mr. Bond was busy, terribly busy. But he didn’t mind stopping long enough for us to talk. He wanted to know how we were enjoying ourselves and if we were working too hard. He had time enough to listen to me recount my experience with him in Memphis. He smiled and listened and three days later when he saw me again, he said, “hello Latrivia.” Thousands of people, thousands of stories and he never forgot my name.

When I came home from Cincinnati, my life was changed. Deidre just laughed. “It’s good for you,” she said. She still is always grooming me, even until this day.  She had met him many times before and knew how great he was, but I was on fire and brand new to such a movement.

For the very young people (and I have many who read my books and my blog and I know they are under 18 – naughty teens), I want you to know why this man was so important.
Julian Bond was no rapper, baller or actor. He was an activist, a game-changer. Horace Julian Bond was an American social activist and leader in the Civil Rights Movement, politician, professor, and writer.

Born in Nashville, TN on January 14, 1940 – only 200 miles from Memphis- Julian Bond became a civil rights activist while in college. In 1965, he was elected to Georgia’s state legislature, but his opposition to the war in Vietnam meant that it would take a U.S. Supreme Court ruling for him to be allowed to take his seat. Bond later served as the head of the Southern Poverty Law Center and of the NAACP.

“Julian helped inspire an entire generation of young people, students, black and white,” Rep. John Lewis, D-Ga., said Sunday. “He spent so much time speaking on college campuses, telling the story of the movement. He was so smart, so gifted, so articulate and he had a way of getting to people, to students, to young people and he succeeded.” http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation/2015/08/16/civil-rights-activist-julian-bond-dies/31809385/

Bond died on August 15, 2015 at the age of 75, but his legacy will live on.

The Chronicles of Young Dmitry Medlov: Volume 7 will be released on Saturday, October 25th

V7 Cover

I know to so many this project is just a short story. It’s one of 12 short stories in the series about Dmitry Medlov before he met Royal.  But my Medlovian women (oh that rowdy group of gals) are expecting excellence in each and every chapter.

In reading over my work on last night, I just wasn’t satisfied with the story yet. 100 pages of a short story that is supposed to leave you cursing me for more.  Don’t get me wrong. It’s fire, but it’s not ON fire.  So then, the debate happened.  I questioned if meeting a deadline was better than meeting YOUR expectations with my work.  And the answer came up, unequivocally NO.

This is why I’m pushing the book back one week. The 100 pages that we present to you need to knock your socks off, or at least make you want to take off your shoes and curl up to your e-reader.  Speaking of which, do people name theirs?  My e-book reader is named LUCY.  Anyway…

This series means so much to me. It’s the exploration of the mind behind the mature Russian billionaire who grew to be a worldwide leader of underworld munitions and the many relationships that he had to foster and forget.  In Dmitry’s Closet, we have a new understanding of the thick tension between Dmitry and Ivan in their first meeting when he arrived to Memphis from New York many years after the Chronicles has taken place.  We understand why Dmitry did not want Royal anywhere near Ivan, and after V7, we’ll understand why Ivan swore revenge for Arie.

The backstory makes everything fun. And this backstory is dedicated to all of you.  But I can’t dedicate something to you that I know is half done.  I’m asking for your forgiveness and understanding that we’re we a week off the mark, but somehow, I think you’re going to be entertained when it’s finally in your hands.

Vasily’s Revenge: The Complete Story is out!!!

Vasilys Revenge Option 2 (907x1280)

Well, I kept my promise. I made my deadline of September 30th to drop Vasily’s Revenge: The Complete Story.  I’m really excited about this one, simply because of its history.  When the Scandalous Heroes Box Set Authors approached me about writing a book, I was trying to figure out what character to be developed more.  Karen Moss was in love with Vasily and I thought, perfect, I’ll focus in on that.  Well, I didn’t realize how much I would enjoy writing his story.  I had a chance also to talk more about the relationship between Gabriel Medlov and his live-in girlfriend along with how Dmitry felt his organization should continue to be structured.

We’re going to have a book discussion tonight over at the Latrivia Nelson Love Pub on Facebook. You are welcome to Join and Swing by for a fun conversation. It’s also available on Amazon’s Kindle and Barnes and Noble’s Nook as of today.

Now, I’m off to finish writing The Chronicles of Young Dmitry Medlov: Volume 7. Then we switch to the Lonely Hearts.  Can’t wait and couldn’t have done it without all of you.
