The Synopsis of Gabriel’s Regret

Gabriel Medlov has lived two very different lives in his 30 years on this earth, mostly because of his very different parents & paths.

Gabriel’s mother, Emma Hutton, was born into British royalty with billions of dollars, but after her mother married the rugged Russian mobster, Dmitry Medlov, and gave him her inheritance, she denounced her family and became a freedom fighter, spending most of her life in the trenches of third-world countries fighting for the oppressed until her untimely death.

Gabriel’s father, Ivan Medlov, was a lot less selfless – a reputed Russian crime boss, the brother of Dmitry Medlov, and a rabid sociopath, he spent his life running guns, women and drugs until his nephew, Anatoly Medlov, murdered him.

With parents on two far extremes of the spectrum of good and evil, Gabriel was born right in the middle and spent most of his life as a second-string beta.  Until now.  After a series of bad events, the brooding, six-foot-nine, black-haired, blue-eyed, safe bet is on the verge of self-actualization or self-destruction, only he doesn’t know it.

All Gabriel does know is that his normally level-headed thinking and cool exterior are starting to give way to a much more violent and vocal monster that may or may not have been lurking below the surface for many years.

After a major fall-out with his live-in girlfriend in front of the entire family, Gabriel is sent from the palatial confines of the Medlov compound to the war-torn country of Ukraine to oversee a large munitions deal worth millions of dollars that he and his cousin tanked a few days before.  For Gabriel, this trip is a test to determine what kind of man he is turning into, for everyone else it’s a rest from an ongoing domestic squabble.

When Gabriel arrives in the Ukraine, he is met by militia who are fighting a regional war on an international stage.  As Russia shifts its focus to Syria, its military forces are being pulled out of the Ukraine.  This allows for a very small opportunity to take back part of the ruptured city of Donetsk, but they can’t do it without his guns.  Ready to business as usual and get back to the states, Gabriel is transported and introduced to the head of the militia – Valeriya Nenya.

The music stops.  The world stops.  Gabriel’s heart stops.  Who is this black woman and how did she just still his heart?

Born into a life of poverty and hate, Valeriya Nenya, is no princess.  She is, however, fighting not only against the Russians who want to come in and take over her country but also Neo-Nazi separatists who have been terrorizing the country from within for years. With access of munitions and other aide cut off by the outside world, Gabriel Medlov and the Medlov Crime Family becomes Valeriya’s only hope to winning this war.

Deciding to stay a few days in Ukraine to gain Valeriya’s favor, Gabriel is forced to imbed with the militia until he can convince Valeriya and her money contacts that the Medlov Family is the right fit for their fight.  While he is there, he is forced to see the world from a very different lens.  Third world poverty, extreme racism, violence and starvation take on a whole new meaning as he discovers what Valeriya is fighting against.   He also, for the first time, sees what his mother died fighting for.  Only, with his father’s blood and his family’s trade, Gabriel discovers what he was possibly made to do and the movement and woman who will shift him from being a beta in the world of Medlov to an Alpha in a world of regret.  But at what cost does this epiphany cost?

New brand for Latrivia Welch introduces “style” component

FullSizeRender (3)

Latrivia Welch (formerly Latrivia Nelson) has been writing interracial romance since 2008.  One of the major earmarks of her work is her obsession with style.

“The women have to be elegant and the men have to be undeniable,” says Welch.

With her new brand, geared toward bw/wm readers who appreciate the “luxuries of life”, she is focused on speaking to the professional woman and the aspiring professional woman.

“So many of us are business owners, business professionals, students, moms with two jobs who aspire one day to be able to focus on ourselves; we’re hundrednaires, thousandnaires and millionaires. But the one thing that we have in common is that we love a great Happily Ever After story, and our commonality in that makes us all fans of romance.”

Nelson’s new campaign “bw/wm with style” will roll out officially August 15th on social media platforms featuring high-brow couture and iconic models as muses and will be part of a larger year-long campaign.

“Who didn’t love Dmitry in a suit?” Welch joked.

Latrivia Nelson’s 2014 Release Dates

*May Change

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas for me. The last leg of the 2014 year, and every book that I’ve been working on for this year needs to be out by December 31, 2014.  Why?  Because I have a 12-book list for 2015, and I’d like not to have to write two books a monthJ

So many readers have wanted to know what in the world is coming first and when.  And you guys know how I feel about listing a deadline, but I’m going to do it as long as you don’t hold me to it.  Fair enough. You get what you want and I get an opportunity to at least try to be goal-oriented.

This has been a fun year truly.  I felt like my old self again, actually even better.  So, I’ve been writing notes, outlines, quotes and now I think I’m finally ready to do some writing.

Plus, I’ve put together an awesome little video of the covers.  You know me. I like to impress you.

Take a look and tell me what you think. In the next few days, we’ll take each book and list the synopsis and move forward with how you can give your input.

Big hugs and kisses to you all.

Special to the Tri-State Defender
Native Memphian Latrivia S. Nelson sat down in front of her computer in 2008 and wrote her first novel, “Ivy’s Twisted Vine.”

Today, “Ivy’s Twisted Vine” is recognized as the largest interracial romance novel in the black woman/white man (bw/wm) genre to date, with many readers referring to it as the “bible of IR.”
“I write interracial romance novels that women from all walks of life can identify with and enjoy,” said Nelson. “The heroines are strong, beautiful, curvaceous and smart. They know what they want out of life, and they go for it. What man, black or white, wouldn’t want them?”
Sales didn’t soar with her first book, but her dreams did. Since then, Nelson’s following has gone from 500 readers to over 50,000. She has fans in over 38 countries and across the U.S. In 2011, she wrote the number one bestselling novel on Amazon’s Multicultural bestseller’s list, “The Grunt,” from her Lonely Heart Series and stayed on the list for over four months. During that time, she also had a second book on the top twenty list for multicultural romance, “The Ugly Girlfriend” (2011).
Nelson’s love for books surfaced as a child. She wrote stories and regularly recited them to her families. In high school, she once sought her mother’s “true feedback” about one of her books by telling her mother that she’d copied pages from a reference book for a class project.
At The LeMoyne-Owen College, Nelson’s alma mater, she wrote for the “Magician” newspaper. She also served as vice president of the Student Government Association and as president of her sorority, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., before she went on to be Ms. LeMoyne-Owen College in 2001 and graduate with honors in 2003. Later, she received her MBA from Strayer University.
With a long history in public relations and development, she has worked for nationally recognized companies such as The Carter Malone Group and Trust Marketing, and for the non-profits ALSAC/ St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, The Memphis Redbirds and the National Civil Rights Museum. And while she was afforded the opportunity to write, her passion was unfulfilled.
Trace Nelson’s inspiration for interracial romance and it leads to family roots.
“As one half of an interracial marriage, I wanted to dispel certain myths and give women and men in those types of relationships something to read that positively highlighted them,” she said.
Nelson married Adam Nelson, a decorated United States Marine in 2005, and the couple has two children.
Highlighted in hundreds of reviews and interviews, Nelson visits readers in myriad places throughout the nation. Her last stop was at the “Beautiful Trouble Eat and Greet” in Winston-Salem, N.Car., and her next appearance will be at the Romance Slam Jam in Little Rock, Ark., where she will be a guest speaker on the interracial romance genre.
“I surround myself with positive people. New York Times bestselling author, Brenda Jackson, is a dear friend of mine, and I look up to her and what she has done for the romance genre as a whole,” said Nelson. “On the home front, I have mentors like Beverly Robertson and Deidre Malone, who have groomed me for years. These women have also taught me to be vigilant in my desire to be the best and do the best that I can.”
In the last four years, Nelson has written 12 novels and novelettes. Five of those titles have been national bestsellers. From the popular romantic suspense series, “The Medlov Crime Family,” her next book will be out on March 28, 2011, entitled “Saving Anya.”
Nelson has ensured a way to get her work out to the world as well as help other aspiring authors. She founded RiverHouse Publishing in 2010 and has offices in the Clarke Tower in Memphis and on Broad in Manhattan, NYC.
“I wanted to give bold authors a chance to let their voices be heard on their own terms,” Nelson said about her publishing company.
And she’s done just that with five authors signed to RiverHouse Publishing, LLC and five new authors set to be introduced this year.
