V6: Coming at the end of August

TDmitryhe love that I’ve received from readers regarding The World in Reverse has truly been amazing.  Everyday I answer hundreds of emails and go to bed with plenty more for the next day.  It’s better than money realizing the time that people have taken out of their lives to read something that I wrote.  Such an honor.  With that being said, almost every email that I’ve received has had one important question at the end.  “When is the next book coming out?”

 

Well, I’m happy to announce that The Chronicles of Young Dmitry Medlov: Volume 6 affectionately called by Medlovians, V6 will be out by the end of the month.  In comparison to a 741-page book, it’s a super short story that again revisits the early life of our dear Dmitry.  We catch up with him, Elsa, Ivan, Arie, Vladimir and Davyd during the middle of the Angolan Civil War.

 

Now, if you’ve read V5, you know that Elsa’s father is a general in the war.  She also has paved the way for Dmitry to build a relationship with him and become his only supplier.  But there is so much more to that story (no spoilers for you), until you’ll have to check it out yourself.

 

I’m sorry in advance that it’s not a long story, but these stories are designed to be short insights.  Plus, every volume that we finish, we get closer to The Medlov Men, a new series that will hit January 2014, where we will focus on the current story of Dmitry, Anatoly, Gabriel, Vasily, Boris and so many more.

Since the release of The World in Reverse, I’ve been running like crazy.  But I want to take time before this all moves on to another book and I want to talk to you. Tri-State Defender: Memphis author pens national bestselling crime thriller

Author Latrivia S. Nelson has firm roots in Memphis as a graduate of The LeMoyne-Owen College and as a marketing and public relations professional with over 14 years of experience with some of the cities most recognized organizations. She leans on that background to write her steamy love stories and incorporate all things Blues City in her books.

“Memphis is so rich with culture until if I never wrote about another locale in the world, I’d still have plenty of subject matter,” said Nelson. “Each day, I find something or someone new to write about. It never gets old or boring. All you have to do is step outside of your door and you’re bombarded with notable personalities.”

Her latest novel, “The World in Reverse,” has topped several Amazon best sellers lists, including #1 for African American Mystery and #1 for organized crime. And it’s all about Memphis politics, police and crime.

“I was sitting on a bench downtown having lunch when I thought up the idea after reading a news article. The characters just fell in place over time, but they have no real counterparts,” said Nelson. “The book is simply one big what-if scenario.”

“The World in Reverse” is a sequel to her first book, “Ivy’s Twisted Vine,” and centers around one of Nelson’s former leading characters, Nicola Agosto, a white Memphis police officer, his African-American wife and four children. During the course of an investigation into a series of child murders, Agosto is accused of using excessive force against an African-American suspect, suspended from the department and accused of being a racist.

To solve the city’s biggest case, protect his family and clear his name, he enlists the help of the seedy Russian mafia organization he had once been in charge of investigating to uncover a bigger conspiracy that includes a local politician and a fellow officer. The journey includes a riot that erupts downtown during a vigil, bombings and shootouts. And it ends with an even bigger twist.

With 14 novels under her belt, Nelson has had five national bestsellers in the last three years. After going through a pain-staking divorce, many of her readers questioned if she could come back strong.

“My most popular novel was based around my experiences at Camp Lejeune and the passion of my marriage. When I announced my divorce to my readers as the reason that they wouldn’t see new work for me for a while, the rumors started. It didn’t help that the next book that I released, “The Contingency Plan, didn’t do so well,” said Nelson.

“But I stayed focused. I realized that I needed to get my personal life in order and find peace through prayer in order to truly write something of quality. My readers deserved it and so did I.”

As a romance author, Nelson has set records, writing the largest interracial romance novel in the genre, “Ivy’s Twisted Vine,” in 2008. She also had three books on Amazon’s Multicultural Best Sellers List at the same time in 2011. “The World in Reverse” has now topped her former record as the largest interracial thriller to date with 741 pages.

Nelson, who owns RiverHouse Publishing, LLC in Mid-Town, has six authors whom she represents.

The Chronicles of Young Dmitry Medlov: V4 Finally Released!!!

It’s been a long time coming, and to all my faithful fans, I do apologize.  Life always gets in the way of my writing plans.  It makes me remember a saying, “if you want to make God laugh, tell him your plans.”  During the last quarter, I had planned to drop several books, including V4.  My expectations, however, did not include my husband nearly dying in sleep, kids with insane homework assignments and several family trips, outings and visits.  Not to mention, RiverHouse opened a new office dead smack in the middle of the financial district of Manhattan (NYC).  I have been buuusssyyy.

The good news is that Adam is doing much better.  You don’t realize how special they are until they are nearly taken from you , right beside you.  For that, I am so thankful to my dear sweet savior, Jesus Christ.  The office is working out great in New York and will offer even more opportunities for readers and authors alike who follow RiverHouse and the family visits were awesome.  I saw my cousin for the first time in ten years and it was amazing.  We are even moving to the Miami-Ft. Lauderdale area next summer. 

But with everything going on, my writing slowed to a pitiful crawl.  Now, I’m back.  And as normal after being pulled away from my work, I am on fire.

I have a lot in front of me.  Saving Anya and The World In Reverse are due out both on Christmas Day.  It will be out no later than December 31st.  Please be patient with me.  If I pull this off, this will be the biggest project that I’ve ever taken on.

Awesome Interview with the Legendary Koko Brown for The Grunt

This truly has been a crazy week.  We’re currently working on the foundation for our new imprint, Taboo, a project that will launch in the summer of 2012 for Interracial Romance Readers globally.  I’ve been writing up a storm on The Chronicles of Young Dmitry Medlov: Volume 4, The World in Reverse and Saving Anya.  Plus, I have completed seven book club meetings and it’s only Tuesday.  However, I’m doing what I love, and because of that I know that I’m blessed.

Koko Brown really made my week with the latest review of The Grunt.  Words cannot express how proud I was to read this. I woke Adam up from his nap and made him read it twice.  Even he had to smile, and those who know Adam know how hard it is to make him smile.

Writing gives me pleasure for several reasons.  I love to entertain people and take them from the real world into some new place with new people, and I love to meet new people through my books.  The readers, reviewers, publishers, conventioneers, etc. are all amazing.  Normally, I get the reviews later than everyone else, because I’m always in my office or in my “room” at home behind a desk, typing on the computer, music blasting in my ears, television playing – away from the world and everyone around it.  However, lately, I’ve been getting out.  So, I’ve been getting the reviews as they post, and I have quite enjoyed it.

Me in New York on the Hudson Bay with a Friend

It’s the day after my big 31st birthday, and I woke up this morning at 6:30.  Now, anyone who knows me can appreciate what a big step that is for me.  I’m a late riser, and I tend to go to bed very late.  It’s only because I write better late at night.

However, momma’s gotta brand new idea for age 31.  I want to be more proactive.  So, I’m attempting to get up earlier and get used to doing things the conventional way.

My husband, Adam, doesn’t have much faith in my new experiment.  He thinks that I’ll just ease back into late mornings where I wake up after ten to twelve hours of sleep and get started with my day.  But I’m going to surprise him. 

This morning, you should have seen his face when my alarm went off before the sun could rise all the way.  He was on the computer in the corner of our bedroom and when he heard the comforter rustle, he looked back all shocked with that “what in the hell” look on his face.

Well, I’m going to really get motivated this year. 

OMG!!! I am thirty one years old.  This is big!

I remember going out with my guy friends on a few occasions and there were always women in their 30s with us.  They seemed more together, more fashionable, had all the right comebacks and seemed to have it all figured out.  I was very young then, barely twenty, hanging with men ten years older or better.  They used to call me princess and little girl and so many other pet names. 

Now, I’m in my thirties and my guy friends are still around, and they don’t call me a baby anymore.  While I’m still younger than them, I find myself in the most stylish outfits with the busy schedule and quick and often sharp comebacks.  However, I don’t have it all figured out.  I’m still working on that one.

So the big question is what is going to be different about 31.  Well, I have a list.  And I won’t share it with you, because it’s sort of personal, but I can tell you that it includes three subgroups: financial, physical and spiritual.  I want to work on myself in all three areas.  Can you believe the kids fit into all three categories as well as Adam.  They are so greedy.

Many of my readers are well over 31.  I love to get their stories via email.  They share the most interesting stories.  I look forward to waking up, checking my email and getting a story from some of my readers who have had exciting weekends or finally found “the one.”  It makes for great material, and it enhances my life. I’m one of those who truly believes that sharing your stories helps other people grow.  Shame on you if you haven’t shared a story with someone.  It’s enlightening.  Plus, it’s down right entertaining.

One thing I wonder is if Adam still thinks of me as a young woman.  I wonder if my kids think that I’m old.  However, Jordan, our son, told me that I was 100 years old.  He needs to give me a freaking break. 

With every blessed year that you get a chance to be on this earth, however, I imagine that you have to give something back.  You have to pay your dues.  I know what I want to give in terms of literature and it terms of family and friends, but there has to be more.  So, I’m searching, you know.  I’m looking for one incredible way to give back.
